Claire Balest is a freelance makeup artist based in Tennessee, readily available for worldwide travel upon request.
As a little 4 year old girl, she was so enamored with all things makeup that she was always announcing her plans to grow up and be a "lipstick seller," declaring that if everyone loved lipstick as passionately as she did, she knew she would be a success. She is humbled and grateful that her dream came true and she is able to spend her days playing with color and touching faces, allowing her to work with some of the most extraordinary people and to connect closely with her clients.
Claire's work has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Weddings, GQ, Sports Illustrated, and ESPN The Magazine, along with innumerable wedding blog features. She has had the privilege of collaborating with and studying under some of the industry’s leading creatives, and she was also the hair and makeup artist on three separate Emmy nominated and Telly award-winning campaigns for Jewelry Television. Her travels and work have been interlaced since 1997 — she has traversed the country representing brands such as Bobbi Brown, Chanel, and Estée Lauder, as well as participating in the initial launch of Victoria’s Secret Beauty. Claire is formerly the beauty editor for Modern Ink Magazine, where she created and designed the looks for Kaleidoscope — an innovative feature devoted to exploring color and beauty through the artistry of makeup. She spent years traveling the country as an A Team artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, one of her favorite periods of her career. These years with Bobbi Brown allowed her to work with other incredible artists and with a brand that teaches women to celebrate and play up what they love about themselves instead of focusing on hiding what they don't. This beauty philosophy has shaped her and remained at the core of how she views women and makeup.
Claire’s comfort and experience in front of and behind the camera extend beyond makeup artistry. Years of working in theaters and on sets in New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta have given her the comprehensive ability to improvise her techniques for various lighting design and high definition cameras. The exposure has also left her with a unique appreciation for and ability to connect with her clients.
Though Claire works regularly with prominent clientele in television, print, and theatre, she has a great passion for, and specializes in luxury bridal makeup. She believes that every woman wants to look like the best version of themselves on their wedding day, and she prides herself on being able to get to the heart of what makes each woman feel beautiful, and understands the importance of that responsibility. She makes certain that everyone feels utterly beautiful when they get out of her chair. As a luxury bridal beauty specialist, Claire gives each client the red carpet experience they deserve on their wedding day.
